BASEMENT GROUNDWORKS
July rolled around and we hired a trac-hoe and NuEnergy Mechanical to replace the LEAD (!?) water service, as well as replace the subgrade sanitary main. The new work included adding drains for the future mechanical, laundry, and bathroom, in the basement. We did most of the concrete break out ourselves and found it was a VERY strong mixture filled with 2-4" round river stone. Wow, do I have more respect for guys that jackhammer for a living! Epcor came and replaced the Curb Cock valve and their side of the lead water main. We went with 3/4" k-type copper tubing, after reading about all the US lawsuits associated with the Ki-Tech plastic water line system.
